LAST WORDS FOR SUNDAY  23rd. JUNE –

1st AFTER TRINITY.

“Lord, I feel called to serve You, and this is what I am going to do for You!” This is a prayer many have mistakenly made to God when acknowledging a vocation.

Our Lord has called us all into His service, He loves us all equally and He gives us His Holy Spirit to guide us and lead us. We may have different roles, but we are all interdependent and we are brought into His church and signed with His cross to show we are His disciples, His representatives on earth today.

If we want to serve Him, the place to start is where we are and through prayer and seeking His will, He will show us the way along a path of life He has chosen for us. By going our own way, along it, we are likely to get lost and we may find our witness is failing because we are in the wrong place.

Some find their way immediately while others travel their paths branching off in different directions and testing their calling where those paths lead. We may be sure that our Lord will use us in those places but if we trust Him and remain open to His guidance and what He wants from us, He will lead us back to the right path until we become what He intended.

I have been on a long journey from telling our Lord in my late teens how I wanted to serve Him, through failure, rejection and disappointment, to taking vows, and serving as a Lay Minister, and now to being ordained as a Deacon next Saturday in Brecon cathedral. None of the years have been wasted. I have grown and developed my calling and been changed until I have arrived at the place, I always longed to be. I have had to learn humility and obedience and to trust God and do things His way.

I should have said in the first place, “Lord, what do you want me to do for you?” and let Him take complete control.

Thank You my Father, for loving me and helping me to be the person You want me to be and through life experiences making me better able to serve You as a Deacon in Your church today.

My Dear friends, please pray for me –

I still have a long way to go!

Marian.
